Mission and Outreach

Advent mission: School Uniform Bank

Thanks to all the generous people in our fellowship who contributed money to the School Uniform Bank through our Advent Mission Project. We raised $1,067 to help buy uniforms to restock the bank for the winter months.

As the seasons change and the temperature drops we get requests for long sleeve shirts and sweaters. Students need uniforms all year round; requests are still coming in from social service agencies and from the elementary and middle schools in the School District of Lancaster. The SUB tries to provide 2 tops and 2 bottoms for each student.  New and gently used items are used to fill requests. The cost of one uniform is about $17.50 for a student size. An additional $10.75 would provide a student with a sweater. We also get request for adult sizes, and the cost ranges from $25-$30 per uniform.

Thank you to everyone – keep the SUB in your prayers.

Love in a shoebox

Earlier this month, Deb Yunginger delivered 29 shoeboxes filled and wrapped by Pearl Street people to the collection point.

The project is Operation Christmas Child, operated by Samaritan’s Purse (whose founder is Franklin Graham) to send shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts to children around the world.

Shoeboxes are shipped to some of the most remote corners of the world. Samaritan's Purse adds gospel tracts to each box, in the language of the area where the boxes will be delivered. Thanks to your generosity, children who might never have heard the message of God's love will experience the love of Christ through the love you showed in packing your shoeboxes.

Have a blessed Advent!

Pearl Street people have raised $575 to buy bikes for caregivers of the sick in Africa, where a bicycle is often the most reliable form of transportation.

Every $135 we raise sends one bike and health kit to Africa. That means we are sponsoring four bikes (plus some additional cash for other hunger and AIDS relief needs)!

Thank you all for your generosity!
